So we are penalized for having a better banner then everyone else. Those sites that have a lot of HX banners displayed on their site are getting plenty of traffic. Those banners are being shown. If they aren't being clicked on, then the banner designer is not to blame, not the site owner.
The site owner who has the 32:1 ratio clearly has a better designed banner then the site owner with the 556:1 ratio.
As a site owner, there is only so much you can do to encourage people to click on a banner. If the banners are poorly done, then there is NOTHING that can be done to make people click.

I make a great banner - have a popular web site - and have such a lousy exchange ratio SOMEONE should be embarrassed!

Low exchange ratios are almost always caused by poor banner performance at a member's site. Even though your site displayed 20,000 HitX banners, you didn't tell everyone how many of those banners were clicked on.
Take the past 7 days as an example, your site displayed 7,225 HitX banners while your banners were displayed 2,150 times by HitX. The exchange ratio is 0.28. Sounds bad, doesn't it? But let's look at the number of clicks.
Of the 7,225 HitX banners displayed at your site, only 13 clicks were generated, that's a CTR (Click Thru Ratio) of 556:1. Even though HitX displayed your banner only 2,150 time, 68 clicks occured. CTR is 32:1. Your site sent 13 visitors to other members while they sent 68 visitors to your site. Doesn't sound like a bad deal for you.
Of course there could be a number of reasons for poor CTR at your site. Most of which are seemingly out of your control, but they are not. Some sites put very little content on each page, which forces their visitors to go through many frivolous pages to find something real. I am not saying that it is happening at your site, just that there are many reasons for visitors to overlook banners.
HitX is based on a principal of exchange - banner displays AND clicks. It's up to each member to maintain a good click-thru rate at their sites. It's only fair.

I have been using this service for almost 3 years. My banners have shown 20,600 times and have received good results. It seems that Hitexchange has had some problems as of late but has come back online. I was was under the assumption that Hitexchange was another Dot-com failure but was happy to see there banners redisplaying after weeks of downtime.
My only hope is that this service doesn't end up like many other websites out there. They offer there service for free for a long period of time. Then they build up a huge database of users. All of a sudden without notice they change into a pay only site.
I have seen many real ggod site go under ( evoice.com,thinklink.com ) and hope that this doesn't happen to Hitexchange.net.
I have been with this site from almost the beginning and hate to see it go. I realize the site is free and no one should complain about what it offers.
From what from I have seen from other free service website I am real starting to worry about this one and it's condition in the near future. If Hitexchange decides to go with more site banner ads, annoying pop-up ads or to a fee based system he will drive this site right into the ground.
Hitexchange is to good a service to ruin. Please don't post here and complain because the word "free" is disapearing on the internet and it's getting to the point where the worldwide web is becoming one big advertisment.

Wots the catch? Theres no support. If you need an answer to any questions, then good luck!!!
It usually takes a month or so to get any service going in the first place. However there seem to be periods when they come back to work and get everything sorted ... although this only happens a few times a year.
This isnt a compliant, just a reminder to everyone that nothing is for free and theres always a catch.

Whats going on with hitexchange.net the last couple of weeks. Its like Andy and the crew went on vacation and shut down the database. I think they moved to a new host or did something but I haven't heard back from anyone at hitexchange.net and no one has returned my emails. This is not a complaint because we shouldn't complain for something we are getting for Free but it would be nice if we knew what was going on. I still would recommend this service and think it's the banner exchange on the internet.

However, the good thing about this exchange is the great exchange ratio you get. At times even (5 : 1), although the average is about (1.50 : 1).

For the people who are complaining. Please stop whining and take it elsewhere. This serice is free and you have no right to complain. Yes this site has some minor faults but the actual website runs great and I get excellant results with my acount. I would recomend this service to anyone who has a website and has the ability to make a effective banner that will get the web surfers attention. Go use Linkexchange for a year and then find out who's better when it comes to click throughs. Finally after 4 days (instead of the 48 given hours) they've approved my site. When I've already displayed about 1100 banners on my site. Anyway, they've dispaled more than 300 hundred of my ads and the click ratio is about 75:1 ... which is just about satisfactory!

This site is very well written - it just needs more 'push' from you! The number of banners shown per week has been static at the quite low 850,000 mark for a while - this means my by now means big site is about 1 or 2% of your entire operation. So after seeing 50 banners, someone will see mine ... again .... and it's well known that CTR's fall the 2nd time you see something. So, give it a big marketing push for a bit, forget any other projects you may have on the go. The software's great, you just need the business!

I currently run a site about Visual Basic programming. I have been using LinkExchange for 2 1/2 years: during that period, I showed about 14,000 banners at my site, but with an exchange rate of 1:2, my banner was showed only 7,000 times at other site. But the worse thing is that I received only 33 (YES 33) visits: this is the 0.5%!!!
Two months ago, I decided to leave LinkExchange and join HitExchange. Now, I am ASTONISHED! I showed "only" 9,500 banners at my site, and mine has already been shown 7,000 times, the same as LinkExchange, but in TWO months againts 30. And, best of all, I received 110 visits in only 2 months and that's 100 TIMES better than LinkExchange!!!
Other cool features of HitExchange are multiple banners and targeted advertising, wich brings quality visitors to your website. Considering that the number of HitExchange members (and target audience) are fewer than LinkExchange's, the productiveness of THIS service is great!

On my site, I sell computer hardware. This is not something everyone is interested in all the time. That's the problem with other banner exchanges, I've tried 'em all. In my line of work it's not just having people see your banner, it's getting people that are specificly interested in the products I'm selling that make a difference. I've found the biggest thing that I can suggest to others is:

Don't lie on your banners!

HitExchange will get you the quality hits you want, but you have to keep your banners attractive, but honest. HitExchange has helped my get quality hits instead of the other banner exchanges that showed my computer hardware banners to people looking for MP3z and porn. Not really my target audiences. All I can say is Thank's HitExchange!
And as another user said, "I even saw one of my banners on another site!".. When using the other banner exchanges, I didn't even know if my banners circulated.

What can I say? HitExchange rules! I have been with LinkExchange for over 1 1/2 years and was left totally unsatisfied, seeing their banners or other faceless corporations displayed on my website. They also left me with miserable click-thru rates.

I was amazed I didn't find HitExchange earlier! I found it almost by chance. I clicked through one of the member's websites and decided to give it a try, especially after viewing the section on the truth about the other banner programs. I will never regret that decision!

Since then, HitExchange has boosted the visitors count at AIRodyssey, my aviation website. The only negative point I can find in HitExchange is that there aren't many aviation websites, but that challenged me to make better banners to attract the general public. The result: I was amazed to see my banner among the top 10!

What can I said ! So many nice comments about HitExchange, and I am agreeing with them all. Folks at HitExchange are so nice, honest, and helpful. I feel very welcome here. I don't even have to worry about being cheated. I trusted them. I got problem with the registration. Folks here help me right away. I sure going to send in $20 once in a while to keep HitExchange paying for their equipment cost. They sure run an honest business. I must agree that LinkExchange really suck ! I have been using HitExchange for over a year and will say that there banner exchange is very reliable when it comes to down time. Futhermore they provide outstanding results when it comes to advertising and also put Link Exchange to shame. Link Exchange is a con and all they do is advertise Billion Bills junk. The same goes for Hotmail.com as they advertise Microsoft products all over the place. Since Microsoft is being a Internet Raider and buying up website to promote there products, Users of Link Exchange don't have a chance to advertise there websites. What they want is you to but Credits to subsidize there website and if you are lucky you will get some "Banner Hits". A free account with Link Exchange will get you nowhere and will only advertise for them on your website. Don't be fooled!!! Link Exchange is a waste of time. Now if you want a real banner exchange that will give you results then sign up for a free account with "Hit Exchange". I have seen excellant results!!!!

I run a network of web sites, and hitexchange has allowed my site to grow at more than a two fold over the last 2 weeks. I haven't been with them long, but I did try several other bannerexchanges, ones such as linkexchange are a rip off. I even once surfed to a web site and SAW MY BANNER!!! how is that for proof that you are getting traffic. If you are thinking about joining a linkexchange, or are already in one, use hitexchange, you can't beat them. Plus, support is A+, never more than 36 hours to get a response. Email linkexchange, see how long it takes them(if they even respond)

I've been through about seven different Banner Exchange programs. I've tried all of the big ones - the exchanges everybody has heard about!
None comes anywhere near HitExchange!
With HitExchange, I can count on getting new visitors EVERY DAY!
How does this work? HitExchange takes advantage of very high traffic sites by providing them with the minimum 2/3 impression ratio [which is already higher than EVERY OTHER exchange program, no matter what they try to tell you!]. This allows the lower traffic sites to actually maintain an exchange ratio greater than 1.5!
In this system, all participants win!
I also suggest that anyone starting out purchase some hit credits from HitExchange. For $20, you may fill up your account with a few hit credits to get you started. This helps HitExchange stay "in business" - and, it'll help you -- I guarantee!

I am totally thrilled with the advanced features that Hit Exchange has to offer. They offer the most fool proof way of advertising that I know of. If any of you out there are using any other Banner Exchanges you are missing out on so much. For one, I know my banner is being displayed and secondly, I have so many options to where my banner is to be displayed. Okay, Forget about Linkexchange and all the banner exchange wannabe's out there. I have tested most of the best exchanges out there and most are long gone. Most make promises that they can not keep. I found most either go down all the time or they never notify you of upcoming changes. Furthermore,
some will close you account for no reason leaving you advertising for them for months before you realize what is going on. Now I came across Hitexchange over a year ago and was very afraid to put them on my website because of past bad experiences with banner exchanges. After many emails with Andy he gained my trust enough to try Hitexchange.net. Even though I did not like the strict rules he assured me of good results. Months went by and I can say that I could in fact get some good results with this exchange. In a one year's time I have had my eight banners shown over twelve thousand times and gained over two hundred credits. The service never goes down ( warning if have a mistakes with your html it will stop displaying your ads ) and I have taken off all the other banner exchanges off my website and use Hitexchange exclusivly. I have both 468 by 60 and 400 by 40 displays throughout my site and now after a year think hitechange is the best out there and I would tell Linkexchange users to get rid of them and use this exchange. Forget the rest try the best!!!!

I've been webmastering seriously for about 2 years now. I've been a member of almost all of the known banner networks, and HitExchange is No 1. I still keep an eye on new exchanges, like Smartclicks, for example, but HitX still wins. Here are a few reasons...
NO COMMERCIALS
The most impressive aspect to me, is that HitExchange does not show ads for themselves. LE and others take up to 50 percent of the impressions on their network for themselves. Hit X only shows member banners, so being a member feels more like being a member of a co-op, and not just an exchange.
GET WHAT YOU GIVE EXCHANGE RATIO
The reason Hit X is like a co-op is because when you send a visit to another member, your ratio increases. Unlike LE, which has a fixed 2:1 ratio, your Hit X ratio will increase if you put it in a good place, where people will see it, and then click it. The clicks increase your ratio. So, unlike LE, where clicks mean nothing, and placement is a joke, your banner won't be placed at the bottom of a page where no one will ever see it 1000 times and never get clicked. Hit X gives it's members a reason to put the banners in a good spot. This means not only the ratio, but the actual placement of Hit X is obviously going to be better than other exchanges.
BANNER OPTIONS
You can have up to 10 banners, each one can be directed to any page on your website, and targeted to the categories that it relates to. This gives you the freedom not only to advertise your whole website, but special features, or specific parts of your website. Oh yeah, did I mention that Hit X allows 3 banner sizes?
SERVICE
The staff here is really cool. There is also an internal messaging system for you to use too. No more searching for customer service emails, and then not hearing back for a week. Hit X can be reached very easily via the member screen, and usually gets back to me within 2 or 3 business days.
I could probably write more, but I think you get the idea. Hit X is the only banner exchange worth using.

I like HitExchange.net a lot. Its not the only banner exchange I use, but it's my favorite. I used linkexchange.com for a while, but I noticed their banners were crashing my pages... a lot. That was when I discovered HitExchange and I am glad I did. I have NEVER had a problem since I started using this service, and I get GREAT results.

The internet is a place where few people will ever make it big, but I believe a small business can survive. The HitExchange service is EXCELLENT for small businesses for whom every sale is important.

My complaints about the other guys:

LinkExchange Crashes my webpages - forget about it!

Smartage is big and impersonal, and they don't allow their banners if a user has to login (unless a banner is on the homepage). Also, their banners require more space because the table takes up 3 pixcels per border.

1for1 ONLY gives the webmaster credit per visitor, not per page view (great for the advertiser, terrible for the webmaster, unless he has only one page).

There are also a couple of good things about HitExchange that make a difference to me:

They are the ONLY exchange that offers a choice of the exchange logo on the side or on the bottom of the banner.

Targeted Advertising is Excellent

Advertising rates are totally reasonable.

What can I say, I like this service - try it!

Hitexchange is heaps better than linkexchange, ad my banner is doing really well, its usually in the top ten for click-thru ratios! I recommend hitexchange over the rest, they are far superior!

Hitexchange kicks butt. There banner exchange is the best on the internet. I have not found one banner exchange that provides such a great service and never goes down. I would highly recommend the banner exchange to anyone and this service beats link exchange hands down.

This is great! An fair banner exchange with incredible ease of use. No other banner exchange can match HitExchange's policy against cheaters and a great interface to view your statistics and manage your account. Click-Thru-Ratios are better compared to others like LinkExchange. A great staff which provides personal tech support. I've found no better service to bring traffic to your own site for free on the Internet!

HATS OFF TO HITEXCHANGE!
When I first came on the Internet I didn't have a clue like most "newbies". I didn't even know I could have a website without paying high dollar corporate rates. A friend introduced me and needless to say -- I was hooked!
I designed my first site and began learning how to type! hehe I didn't know how to create a banner but soon learned. I also shortly thereafter learned that 500kb banners were not going to work on any banner exchange program!
Like most I had heard about those other guys that you can't find a way to contact them even if your dad is a CIA agent. I had placed their banner on my site and it was working for advertsing for them but I couldn't figure out how to shrink my banners without sacrificing the images integrity to save my cyber life! I won't dare shamelessly glorify them any further by actually posting the name of that cyber-hell here for someone who hasn't heard of them to go find thinking it might be better for them. Trust us, we have all learned from our mistakes and you can learn from our mistakes as well! The banner rules were very stringent and just impossible to deal with. So I started a trek to find someone worthy of my fantastic work! LOL
Hence I surfed into HitExchange where I was able to find some help easily! They even took my banner after I cried on Andy's hard drive and shrunk it to a suitable size for cyber consumption! This started my journey into Internet Marketing and Advertsing. Little did I know what the implications of this would be.
I just wanted to share some songs I wrote with the rest of the world because if I didn't the two friends, Rob and Ray, who put me up to the whole thing, were going to hound me to death if didn't!
Well to make a long story short, the next thing I know I am a real business owner and am creating websites for clients and--you guessed it!--bringing all of my clients to HitExchange because these guys know what they are doing and how to set things up so we can all have a piece of cyber-pie!

Only been a member for a couple of days, but I'd checked out just about all the banner exchanges that there were out there. Most were shoddy. A few had good design but were blatantly commercial. And then there's this.
Forget the stuff about click-through and display ratio, the real reason why I'm here is because these guys are honest. The site design is clean, the admin works hard and knows what they're doing, the deals are fair, everything makes sense, and I trust these guys completely.
And that's rare on the Internet.
I've signed up with four or five banner exchanges, used one or two, but this is the best. No question about it. HitExchange is a gem.

Just wanted to add my two cents and say that Hitexchange has helped my site out greatly. Not to mention that I am amazed that my banner has been #1 for almost 2 1/2 weeks straight!! My hits ratio is running about 6:1 and yes, I also am using Link exchange (not must longer ~ what is that "showiframes" thing anyway? ~ those of you who use link exchange know exactly what I'm talking about). Not to mention that every other banner is a Link exchange banner and not another sites banner. I've decided to focus more on what Hitexchange can do for me and my business.Thanks Hitexchange

I�m really very, very happy with Hitexchange.net!
I tried several banner exchanges before: Linkexchange, Free-Banners, Linkbuddies and Smartclicks. With ALL of them I had a BAD ctr-rate of 0.5% or less, because their targeting-system works some kind of crappy or some even do not offer targetting your banner on other sites. Another great feature I like at Hitexchange.net is, that you guys offer those hit-credits. I currently have the Hitexchange banner-code listed at the top of my website, which of course gives me more hitcredits (so more clickthroughs - because of a better ratio - to my site) as if I would list it at the very bottom. Those other banner-exchanges actually do not care about banner-placement, they also do not offer some kind of hit-credits. The popular Linkexchange for example, just offers a plain ratio of 2:1. It makes no difference if I place Linkexchange�s html-code at the top or at the bottom of my websites: My banner gets displayed on other members� websites always same often. (Of course remember, that a "top"-banner will make more impressions thus more credits). However, why should I display a Linkexchange-banner at the top of my page, if other members display my banner at the very bottom? Does this make any sence? - NO! With Hitexchange.net it actually makes sence.

When I realised that Link Exchange only advertised themselves on high traffic sites and member pages on low traffic sites, I left them. Right now my hit ratio is probally 5 times better that it was with Link Exchange maybe even 6.
Hit Exchange works for your site, thats the difference! Once some more people find out about this Link Exchange will cease to exist! The only thing that Hit Exchange needs is more exposure and they don't steal potential hits from members to get it.
Bottom line? Hit Exchange is layin' the smack down on Link Exchange!

I have been a member of LinkExchange since 1996. Since joining HitExchange only a couple of weeks ago, I have received more hits on my banners than I was getting in a whole year from Link Exchange. Add to that the fact that my banners are shown at a 1 to 1 ratio most of the time,
and sometimes at a 2 to 1 rate over the banners my site shows....I'm impressed!!
The only way HitExchange could improve their service would be to give me page-by-page statistics so I would know how many people are visiting each page that has a HitExchange banner on it.
By the way, I have dumped LinkExchange :-)

I have to agree with everyone else who has left comments before me,
Hitexchange.net is much better than Linkexchange!
Here is what I like about Hitexchange.net:
- They let you run up to 8 banners at once, weighing them if you like. This is great for testing out a whole bunch of banners to see which ones work best. The banners are updated real-time, so you don't have to worry about waiting days for the changes to be made.
- Their clickthru ratio is great! I am averaging about 46:1 right now, the ratio I am getting at Linkexchange is about 85:1!
- Great targetting/filtering system.
- They reward you with more exposures when people click on the banners hosted at your site. This is great because this gives the hosts incentive to provide the banners with good exposure.
My only complaint is that the size of the network is still very small, which limits the amount of banners that we can display at our site. Even so, we are still getting more than twice the traffic from hitexchange.net than from Linkexchange!
I encourage all webmasters to really look into this program, it has worked great for us! Once the network has increased in size the potential traffic from this service will be really great!

I was with Link Exchange and I was getting no where with them, I have advitized 1800!! banners on my website for them and they advitized my website banner only 700 times and guess how many click throughs a got out of all that?? 15! so then A friend told me about Hit Exchange and how better they are that they don't advitize there website seeing there is already a link to them at the bottom of the banner anyway and they have a much fairer click through rate then Link Exchange so I decided to check them out. Well I ended up joining Hit Exchange and I have being getting a much better click through rate then link exchange. I give Hit exchange 10 out of 10!
